New Christmas song, I’ll Have Your Heart

December 12, 2020

Hey people. This time of year is usually the best. Sometimes it's really hard. Music helps, even if it doesn't match your current headspace. Either way, Christmas is the best excuse to listen to cheesy love songs. This one definitely fits that bill. This song isn’t really new, but new to the mainstream streaming services, which means more people will hear it, I suppose. I’ll give a little backstory for those interested.

I first wrote this song when I was in high school. I was in the first few months of my first real relationship, and was head over heels for her. I wrote it for her, but also released it on one of my solo EP’s at the time. It was around the time that iPads had come out, and I recorded the song entirely on my iPad, which sounds normal by today’s standards, but when iPads first arrived on the scene, they were extremely limited on what you could do. It turned out pretty good, considering.

Fast forward to 2016, after finishing and releasing Summer Rain, I really wanted to write and release a new Christmas song for that year as well. Unfortunately, lack of motivation kept me from it, so I remember thinking this song had a lot of promise, but just needed a decent face-lift and it could be great. So I ended up re-creating the song from scratch, new recording and a bit different arrangement. Mixed and mastered it properly and released it that December under my solo name. At the time, I kept two separate music projects.

Now, I decided to officially make it a Grey Harbor song and get it out there on all platforms for people to hear. I hope y’all like it. It’s funny how even if you’re not feeling especially Christmasy or loved during this time of year, it still manages to lift the spirits ever so slightly. That’s where I’m at.

Glad y’all made it this far in 2020. See you in 2021.
